2202. Signed Phillip Hornthal 1941 framed oil on board. This WWll painting was done by(from available research) I believe the Phillip Hornthal who was an artist in the U.S. "ghost" army in WWll. This group of soldiers were artists and actors who tricked the germans with special effects and fakery instead of fighting!! They were a secret until 1996. The painting measures about 15" long by 11 and 1/2" across inside the fame. The wooden frame appears to original is is painted over wood.
